Planning to carb convert my 07 FXD, but wondering if an older (up to 03) tank will fit? I’ve read that the tanks themselves are stretched and different on later Dynas, but are the mounts the same ? i don’t have access to an older tank to check before i get one. If anyone has any first hand knowledge or measurements to compare that would be helpful, thanks.
you don't need to change the tank for a carb conversion, just need a fuel tap and an adapter. thats whats on my 2006 dyna with a carb. also the tank on mine is off a 2015 fat bob and fits perfect, as far as i know all the twin cam dyna tanks fit the frames. but not 100%
yes, thank you for that. all twin cam dyna tanks seems to be similar and i'm pretty positive 06-17 dyna tanks are all interchangeable. the reason i ask about this is i'm looking at getting a custom tank that are made to fit pre-03 Dynas and we have no way of knowing for sure if it will fit or not.

as far as i know the twin cam dyna frames are basically the same (just head angle is different) but beefed up for the 2006 on bikes.
same. serviceability, and honestly i wanted a carb Dyna to begin with but the crazy market where i live (korea) meant that the cheapest and one of the only affordable big twins models around are early EFI Dynas, with carb ones costing 2x-3x more and FXRs up to 6x more.
cant speak for the op, but my answer would be cheaper/easier maintenance.

I hear a lot of guys say that, but I got to say, I've owned several fuel injected bikes and never had so much as a hiccup out of them. I will admit that a carb bike sounds so much sweeter than FI, but as for reliability and low maintenance, its hard to beat a modern FI system.
