Ok a little more about my situation. It was my ex girlfriend who had some goons home and take my bike because I was reprimanded from court to go do a prison sentence. This was over 3 years ago now and the insurance company isn't willing to help me at all. I wish they were more practical. I do regret not getting the tssm without the fobs. I thought the dealer would be able to sink the new tssm with my current fobs and antenna because I asked them if they could do this and they said yes. I wish they would have told me about needing the pin to new tssm before I trailered my bike 3 1/2 hours over there. I live in a small community in the hills of Humboldt county California. The nearest dealer shut there doors and is now a DMV. I'm interested in the TSM option. If I'm not locked up I feel my bike is safe with me being I have the key and it's registered and insured in my name.
If it starts and dies, unless I am missing something, it's just a password learn. Look on page 4 if doing it at home with no tools. Dealer instructions also included.
I think what's missing there is OP is attempting to use a used TSSM. The relearn is for a new, virgin TSSM with no VIN previously written to it.
Vin's do not get written to a TSM/TSSM. Start and die is a password learn. Nothing at all is an activated system. You can swap TSSM to several ECMs and password learn.

Ed,
Glad you saw this. There are several threads going about used TSSM issues.
One poster is saying a dealer told him that for the password learn, the TSSM has to have the security deactivated for the password learn to take. The poster also said that if the TSSM has the security activated, they can't do anything about changing it, even with the Dealer's Digital Tec II computer..
Sounds fishy to me, but do you have experience with swapping in or swapping out a TSSM with the security activated?

TSSMs can be swapped all day long from ECM to ECM, but if the security is activated, you cannot do the password learn. I have swapped countless TSSMs to different bikes and done password learn with the digital tech, scanalyzer and manual procedure.

One last question, if I may...
Do you mean a TSSM cannot be password learned to an ECM if it's security is activated, and/or a TSSM cannot be password learned to an ECM if the old TSSM it is replacing is activated...?
Thanks Ed, once again, for some solid information...

I went back and saw the OP has a 2010 which domestically is hands free security. see instructions below. Looks to be the same as the instructions I posted previously.
