Default rear ended

stopped at a cross walk waiting for a ped when i hear the dreaded tires screeching. just had time to hold on tight before one SUV pushed another into my bike and pushed me forward about three feet. $$hit ![:@]neck n hips a little sore but my fender is folded in half under the seat n against the tire.not sure how long to fix n riding days are numbered here in oregon... but fortunately speed limit was only 20 and i had a cage between to absorb impact for me. two different insurance offices on both sides of the street covered all three of us and where witnesses, what are the chances of that?
if i don't get her back soon i might have to beg, barrow or steal one for a month or so

I know that the lucky part about you not getting hurt (glad for that) doesn't ease the pain of your bike's injuries. It sucks-sorry to hear it.

So call up the other guy's insurance company and tell them you'll need $130 p/day rental until your bike is repaired and returned to you. I doubt it will do any good, but it's worth a shot. Even if they would only give you a $30 or $40 a day rental allowance, that would pay for a few days rental by the time you get it back.

Seriously, I know you're bummed about missing out on the rest of riding season, but be grateful, it could have been a whole lot worse.

i tried the bike rental angle and their ins co sed they could only offer a compact cage. i told them that wasn't acceptable and i might have to go over their heads to get a bike on Monday.

I got rear ended on the way home from sturgis. It happened in kentucky. Sitting at a red light, crash. 3k+ in bike damage, and my neck, shoulder, left hip, left wrist, left leg, left ankle ,all injured.

I'm still riding it,but need pills by bedtime. I just need to get through october, then I'll be getting the bike fixed.

With 25 years of casualty claims experience I can tell you this:

Assuming you've place a property damage claim against the other driver's insurance (and haven't filed your claim with your own collision coverage), they are obligated to pay rental for a comparable vehicle as you were driving. In this case, a motorcycle.

State insurance laws vary somewhat but most consider rental part of you damages. Tell the insurance company you want rental of a comparable Harley...period. If they won't agree, but the state insurancelaws dictate such, threaten togo to the state insurance commissioner. If that doesn't work, then file your complaint with insurance commissioner.

Make sure to get yourself fully checked out before assuming you're fine. It may take a couple days before your body starts to show the injuries incured. Hopefully, all is well but you can never be too cautious. You don't want to get stuck with the medical bills later when the problems start to surface. Good luck and ride safe.

P.S. screw idots who don't pay attention while they drive (phone, eating, reading, make-up, jerking off, etc.)
