I was out monday night, going to the pharmacy to get some meds for 1 year old daughter. Double ear infection[:@], so i decide to take the bike. haven't ridden in about a week, was just gettin dark so off i go . I live in a very rural area and our drug store closes early, so now i have to go into town 20min ride.
So i came around a corner 3 miles from my house doing about 35 not to fast not to slow . Out jumps this baby fawn 30 yardsin front of me HOLY SHOT MOVE DEER MOVE I DON'T HAVE MY LID ON WIFE IS GONNA KILL ME.... So i lay on the binders . All i hear is my brakes squealing and my heart pumping. deer is not moving, rear of the bike starts to slide out .Now i'm 15 feet from the deer, its still there. So i grab as much throttle as ican and the bike straightens up. THEN BANG . i hit it, i'm stiill in the bike HOLY **** ME. I PULL OVER AND COLLECT MYSELF. did this just happen . i look back for the deer. dead as a door nail. Now i feel like crap, this fawn was maybe a month old. then i say what if it was the mother. Idon't think i would be typing this. The thing is there was no damage to the bike zero . If i was a cat and had nine lives i think i just used them all up. Be careful out there it can all change in a split second.
Your still alive, and if you had ran off into the woods or hit something else then you really would have been hurt, as well as damage to the bike and stood more a chance of getting hassle from the insurance company for all kinds of damage from something that ran off!
A guy named Lawrence Grodsky who was a well known writer and trainer on motorcycle safety issues, died in Texas this past May. He had apparently said if he died on a bike it would be from hitting a deer. It's one of those things we can't do much to prepare for or prevent. Glad you came out okay, hope your little one is feeling better.
My brother asked , so did ya strap it to the sissy bar
My wife hit a buck in the summer 6000.00 in damage just happy no one was hurt . You try to practice for the worst, but in an instant i think all you can do is react, I'm lucky, i know it could have been worse
We have deer all over the place in the subdivision I live in. I have notices that you can see their eyes glowing hot white at night. You were very lucky man. That is the very reason I ride with my helmet at all times. I guess your gardian angel is not the same one capitol one uses.

Congrats on being ok after a deer hit!! I to hit one but I didn't fair as well as you, but I did have my skid lid on and it did save my life..deer are quick, deer are unpredictable, they will cross in front of you and then run back, usually if you see one there may be more around. Deer are not afraid of moveing bikes, cars or trucks, they would just as soon walk out in front of you as drink water.[sm=biker.gif]
