How is it different? If it's similar but with 3 pins instead of two, it will work with your Tender. The third pin is for fast charging (with a fast charger with 3 pins.)
Hey John,
The first pic is the SAE charger connector installed on most of my rides...
The next pic is what's on my 2008 Anniversary FXDWG.

Tom, if you don't have Harleys matching maintenance charger for that line plug, that's a simple $8 fix on ebay.
If the easy fixes don't fix the issue, be sure to bleed of the pressure before removing tank quick disconnect. Popping it under pressure will dislodge that upper o-ring and then you will have to rebuild it.
Also follow the pressure check closely. Air needs to be purged.
Unlike gasoline, air compresses, so any air in line will give you false readings.
Let me know if you need the complete procedure in a PM. If so, I will PM them back to you.

I would highly advise scanning the IAC steps at hot idle - I would expect you to see somewhere between 20-40. If they are really high the throttle stop screw has backed out and the IAC in unable to open any more on throttle close/deceleration to keep the bike running. If they are at zero you have an intake leak if the anti-tamper plug over the stop screw has not been removed. Also visually watch the IAC stepper plunger open/close when turning bike on/off. Do that hot and cold.

What are the easy fixes? Shotgun?
Do you have an example of the O ring blowing out? I've probably popped the line off 40-50 times and not blown out any O ring. I'd expect that if it blows out it is likely bad anyway..
Air is purged at Key-On.. Nothing special. If not switch off and on again.
AIr does compress but it don't make any difference. The gauge I have does not have any pressure relief.. IT works fine.
I'm sure your PM will obfuscate things, Just like this post..

That's not the one i was thinking of. The one that came on my wife's trike looks like the first pic except it's wider and has a third connection, another socket. You can connect up a standard charger using the pin and first socket.
I agree, the easy solution is to change the connector. You can get one anywhere that sells powersport equipment.

John, where is that third connection going? A frame ground maybe for safety?

All this battery tender stuff is really getting off base. Please refer to post 17 here for a complete explanation of the thrid terminal on Harley's tender.
What he said and on the Idle Air Control, spray a bit of "throttle body", not "carb cleaner" into where you see the plunger going up and down with key on/off. It can get gummed up and cause idle issues.
As far as I know, it goes to the battery plus as well, but it allows the battery to be connected to either a fast charger or a "normal" tender. I don't have a fast charger, so I can't be certain.
Post 17 is confusing. I can't tell if he's talking about the charger or the battery.
