Depends... Where exactly were you measuring the 5-6 volts while cranking?

Stop dicking around and replace your tired battery.

If you have access to another battery, or can safely jump it, does it crank OK?

@baba booey You need a new battery.

will do.

Several others recommended doing other diagnostic tests so I’ve been working through those as well.

I would try jump box again. But if battery is really bad some models wont work.

Who just has a known good starter laying around?

How many miles?

It is 10 years old, which is not old. Cables would be last thing I worry about or even connections,at least in my part of the country.

Has the engine been modded? Did it come with automatic compression releases?

Slow starts are normally batteries. But you replaced it with factory. But sure wonder about battery

the battery is at least 2 years old. Bought the bike used two years ago. No engine modifications at all.

I assume it has the factory automatic compression releases.

as suggested earlier I’m going to replace the battery.

13000 miles.

If it came with the battery in there and is starting slow,I would not waste to much time. I understand batteries are expensive .
