Thank you Todd, I appreciate you taking the time to repost it... Like I said, possibly the BEST Harley I've ever heard... I just played it on my Samsung TV at full volume... Yeah Baby......
S&S Grand Nationals slip on, unless you want a different looking pipe. Love the sound of them, and they flow really well.
This was something I researched a lot on my bike, we have the same headers. Took me forever to find a dyno that just had slip ons but a powervision tune. Most do a full exhaust and the powervision at the same time. The 2:1 exhaust and the stock pipe with good slip ons made the exact same power curve and numbers.
A lot of the sportster guys don't bother with full exhaust. Almost none of the sportbike riders I know bother with full pipes unless they want that last 1-2 HP. Almost all of the issues are in the muffler so they can meet regulations. The S&S flows way better and is actually still within regulations if that's an issue where you're at.
Unless you want a different look of course.
Just saying you don't need a full exhaust for the same power unless you've done some major work to your engine and am pushing out like 150hp.
I've had a V&H big radius (and yes they are definitely 2;2) on my 2013 fat bob since new, just had a 2:1 TBR pipe delivered for a couple of reasons, mainly that the V&H is just too effing noisy, but also I think the 2;1 pipes look really good on the fat bob. They also seem to sound impressive without being raucous, which is where I would put the V&H. I will be interested to see if there is any power difference between the two systems, I am led to believe that the 2:1 may have the edge over the 2:2. I will update the thread as soon as the pipes are on, am also doing a new seat & bars while I am there, will polish the rims & rocker covers, putting a 2" lift on the tank also so should be good. Good luck with your choice of pipes mate!
