I don't knooooow, why is a car dealership buying a motorcycle, did they have others for sale also...916 miles w/scratches...I'm with Hound on this one, pony up another grand and get a new onewith warranty.
seems like a decent price for a nearly new bike- yes - smaller forks and rear tire vs the 06s+, but also less smog stuff also..too bad it wasn't carb'd - that was the last yr for carb I believe. Its a fun bike - good luck.
First, I'd have the bike checked before paying that much for it. The only thing, to me, attractive about that price is the low miles. I know I'm comparing apples to oranges (i.e. a new lowrider costs more than a new FXDC), somewhat, but I've been reading posts on here that 08 FXDC's are now retailing for $12,995. That's $1300 more for a brand new bike with a lot of chrome bits and the bigger motor and 6 speed tranny. Oh, and also a 2 year, unlimited mile warranty. If the bike you were looking at had a lot of options that were attractive to you, then, yes a good deal. But, from what I've read, the bike is essentially all stock - right?
Seems like a decent price to me, and the 05 low rider is the last year low rider I would want to own. No reasonfor the06 and later owners to flame me, it's just personal preference. The 05 low riders, came with the same rake (32*),as the wide glide. In 06, they cut the rake back to 29*, and upped the wide glide to 34* with 2* trees. To me, the 05 low rider has a much better stance (better looking too), than the 06and later models, with the reduced rake.
Just wanted to jump in on this thread. I have a 05 Low Rider, bought it a couple months ago (my first bike). The seller was asking 12k for it, since we're friends she sold it to me for 10k. It had over 4,000 miles on it andis in perfectcondition... I LOVE it.

Here's a picture of it when I bought it:
First off, you know the owner and "where the bike's been". The owner if this thread knows nothing about the bike he's looking at except what he can see on the outside. Second, you bought yours for almost 2k less than what he's looking at and I don't know about your friend, but not many of mine are just going to eat 2 grand just because we are friends. I suspect your friend needed to get 10k out of it and was ready to sell it ASAP. Third, does your bike have any added on accessories ($$$)? Chances are it does (since most of us do those things) and the bike he is looking at is basically stock.
Bottom line, you probably got more for considerably less money than what he is looking at and you know the bike's history, therefore, you got a good deal. In my opinion (it is what it is), he's not looking at a great deal at all - an average one at best. At worse, he's buying someone else's problems at a premium price.

Wow. Nice bike for $10,000, you ought to be smiling from ear to ear
Low miles aren't everything IMO. I would actually be more concerend about the lack of miles more than anything else. No warranty and most likely no records to indicate first service and god only knows how it was stored. Gotta love bikes that are a few years old and barely even got a chance to break in.
I would think about staying away unless you get someone with know how to check it over for you first. Just my two cents.
Thanks for the comments .
Fist of all , nice looking bike Jovi .
My main consernse are
Positives 1. 06 and 07 bikes seam to have some tranny issues .
2. Bike has low miles
3.05 Dynas sound pretty machanicaly reliable .
Negatives .1. 30 day warranty
2. I herd somone comment abought the valve seals ???
Is this something to be conserned abought ?? Pricey ?
3. 2 tone red and silver not one of my best choices.
4. Price is within $3500 or so of a new Dyna low with 2 yr, warranty .
5. Front tire soft and battery seams a little weak ?
6. Dont no the bikes history other then the dealer says the back ground cheked out o.k..
7. a few small scratches .
ANYTHING I should be worried abought for this model year Dyna low ??
Bike is completly stock .
I was thinking of telling him to pay for the 1000 mile service
A new battery
And half the cost of forward controls .
Basicaly $11700. minus abought $500.
And if anything needs replacing during the service check by the Harley dealer .
What would you do ???
