Interesting. It's called out in the manual for the Noco "The GB40 is for jump starting 12-volt lead-acid batteries only. Before connecting to the battery, verify that you have a 12-volt lead-acid battery. The GB40 is not suitable for any other type of battery.". I don't know what the difference would be, but my Lithium battery was not cheap, so I won't risk it. Also, the one time it was dead I was at home, so I just charged it, how did you end up needing to jump a Lithium battery?

You left out this...

Harley does not recommend and says it there top of page, but it realizes sometimes it may be necessary in a real emergency.

I also said look it up your owners manual to the first poster.

And I explained how they say to do it safely

And I also explained to the first poster where it was at. Owners manual Index. Battery. Jump-starting procedure. Page number.

Maybe they did away with it if you don't see it in any owners manuals you have.

Please help the first poster. You should have a 2022 owners manual.

Stop being an jerk. I don't need your help and you don't need mine. That ability stopped long ago between us.

He referred to 22 in his text. Probably from that reference a Dealership made for bikes with BCM control. Thread subject was addressed weeks ago.

The jump pack boys sold their hardware and the thread went round and round, fights started, mothers were insulted, Dan is fussing with his one liners and here we go again.

For the brave, AI tells you the cautions, whys and what best to do coming from a dealership.

You have to read it all. There referring to a dead battery and I tried to explan why you should not jump any vehicle with a dead battery.

Google...
does harley-davidson recommend not jump starting their motorcycle. Read it all. Then hit the AI version and read it.

Thank you for all of the replies to my post.
I have checked the owner's manual and also the service manual (for 2017, I have the FXDL) and neither one say anything about jump starting a bike. It does go into detail about charging the battery. It also does not say to not jump start it.
The reason I started this post, is there are so many videos out saying if you need to jump your bike while you are out riding to connect the positive lead to the starter.
Then there are videos that say when you do it that way, (with a CAN Bus system) that you can damage the bike. Some videos say you can fry the computer and/or the left handlebar controls which I believe that is only happening on the 22 and newer bikes so that will not affect me, but I wanted to see what others are saying about this subject.
I just want to make sure if do ever need to jump start the bike, I do it correctly.
I appreciate all the comments.
Thank you

There is nothing in my 2017 or 2022 owner's manuals warning me not to jump start the bike, as a matter of fact, there is nothing about jump starting at all. I think the major warning revolves around jumping from a car to a bike. IMHO, if you want to be safe pick up the Noco GB40 and carry it with you, mine has kept it's charge for a year without being recharged. It is made for the specific purpose of boost/jump starting your bike, no muss, no fuss. If you want further confirmation go to this page, Booster Portable Battery Pack | Harley-Davidson USA and enter your bike info in the "Make sure this part fits" box. Your bike is in the list and that's straight from the MoCo's mouth.
