I have a 05 FXDI w/9800 miles and no issues at all. I keep the battery tended and it always starts....love it.
My mods:
Badlander seat (modified narrowed / SE Stage 1 / CVO Bars w/relocated speedo / Laydown license plate / removed football air cleaner cover / all else is stock)
11k miles on my '07 Bob. Fork seals weaped from new and fixed at 10k service.Steering headbearings adjusted at 1k and it hasn't clunked since. Other than that, it's been a great ride.
My early model '06 Street Bob has had 2 significant problems- both fixed by great dealers here in Chicago- Illinois Harley, Berwynand in San Francisco- Dudley Perkins. 1. The inner Primary Bearing went out at 10k on Hwy 1 north of SF(common problem on the early '06 Bobs and covered by warranty). 2. At 24K the fuel line from the fuel pump inside the gas tank developed a pinhole(the line should be strapped to the tank chassis with a plastic tie when assembled at the factory and thissometimes is overlooked, evidently). Other than that it has been more dependable than any other bike I've had- including Triumphs and BMWs. BTW, Illinois Harley gave me a "courtesy waranty" on the fuel line. It was a 6" long plastic hose that had to be replaced, but you have to buy the entire fuel pump assembly to get it, and they waived the $300 or so repair. I was 45 days out of warranty! Great guys there. I'd never heard of a courtesy warranty before, but every dealership gets a certain amount of credit from the MoCo every year(can't be carried over to the next year, though) that they can use for customer service. Good thing to know. Jay
20K on my Wide Glide and the only thing that has ever happened (this will jinx me for sure) is one of the brake light switches went out a week after I got it. Other than that, been smooth sailing. Do all my own maintenance faithfully.
Bikecop40, I'm assuming you're a moto-cop. Hoping not to start a new string on waving, but just to get a simple question answered out of curiosity - are you all not supposed to do the wave thing? Haven't gotten a return yet, just a nod or two. Just curious. Thanks.
