I love the QD windshield on my Custom. I've always been dead set against them for a number of juvenile macho reasons, but at 44 years old and now having ridden with one ... anything more than putting around town or bar hopping, mine will be attached. I'm a little bigger on comfort nowadays, as opposed to good looks and machismo, and I love it. [8D]
I have the HD QD compact windshield on my Low Rider. My head does get buffetted around quite a bit......I am looking to get the standard or touring model....... but we'll see.
My buddy has a RK and has a Rifle windshield. Just google Rifle windshields and they'll come up. They make them for Dynas as well. I'm considered that over the HD for 07 Street Bob and the reason is that the shield is made out of better and thicker materials. He had an HD before this and said is scratched up easier and was only about 1/2 as thick.
Just another option to check out, they're about the same price so whatever you decide.
I have seen several people that really like the quick disconnect H-D windshield. Was thinking about one for myself to knock some of the wind off for winter. I'm starting to git older and the cold is effecting my more.
The wind blowing on me don't bother me or wear me out as long as it ain't cold . I'm used to the wind. Good exercise.
Don't know how it would look with 14" ape bars. Anybody got a windshield with Apes on.
I have a 2000 Wide Glide with 14" Chubby Apes. a 17" Memphis Shades windshield that I only use on long road trips - sure helped on my last 4,000 mile vacation (in 8 days). I don't like a windshield on any bike that wasn't designed for one... i.e. Street Glide, Ultra, etc., but it didn't look too bad.
Just my opinion...
By the way, I'm 5'10" and wish I'd gotten a taller windshield.
Also... the picture of my bike below is old. Since then I have made a lot of changes, including the 14" chubbys.
I've got a Harley QD on my Low Rider. I get buffeting but wear a Jack Flap vest if I'm going very far and that helps a lot if I can keep the stupid leather side laces snugged up. Around town it isn't an issue.
Does anyone know if the Rifle windshields are quick detach? Didn't look like it from the instructions but I've never been very good at following instructions.
