RE: Well, I can't say never rode in the rain anymore
last summer i was coming home from an appointment at the v.a. about 35 miles from home it was raining when i was leaving there, put my rain jacket on and headed out .it was my first time in the rain. as i was riding the rain was getting harder .about 10 miles from home it became a micro-burst.couldnt see 10 feet in front of my so i finally stoped and waited until it eased up . lucky it was a warm day. learned a few things about down shifting and breaking that day.would not trade the experence because it gave me confidence i didnt have before,

Rain can be a little hairy at first when the oils from the road are on the surface, but is not bad if your careful. sure can sting the ole' face w/out a shield though huh!
RE: Well, I can't say never rode in the rain anymore
I will slow it down, especially at the beginning of the rain, once it starts pouring its at my own pace, fck the 4 wheelers,. Just be aware your more sensitive to groves, bumbs, RXR tracks, and etc. slippery. If you rode dirt bike or mt. bike in rough terain you will react accordingly.

Rain does suck, but IfI was a fair weather rider here in Alaska I would never get the bike out!! I've been thru 3 hailstorms ON THE BIKE before. One time it was coming down so hard, after I rode out of it, I could have made a snowcone out of the hail sitting in my crotch!!

I feel you on that one. Got caught in a nasty storm on the way home from a ride. It was coming down really hard and I was on the expressway getting pelted in the face (3/4 helmet). Rain hurts at 60. I think I lost a couple layers of skin from my face on that day. Walked in the house drenched and had a big ole smile on...My next purchase is a fork or luggage rack bag and pack it with a rain suit.
RE: Well, I can't say never rode in the rain anymore
My brother came down on his bike a couple of weeks ago to visit. On the day he left I told him I would ride half way with him, it's 250 miles back to his place. There was a little drizzle during the first half but when I turned around to head home the storm clouds had followed us. It poured the whole way home. Luckily I had the windshield on and taken rain gear with me. When I got home my boots were full of water and I was wet from the knees down. Other then that I was dry as a bone. It was also my first time riding in the rain. I did have to take a less traveled road to avoid spray being thrown up by other traffic but overall it was still a fun ride.
