Default removing front fender

i want to remove my front fender on my 07 streetbob. i know some of you have so i have two questions,
1. are the screws loc-tited in and what is that dimple in the nut. it seems like i may sheer it off when i attempted to loosen it.

2. any adverse problems after you removed it?
thanks for the help

the dimples are there to help the nut not vib loose, as for the loctie doubt it and they should just come out like a normal nut bolt. adverse things well rain will send a good roost off the front tire in your face, i wear a full face and only have my bike to ride but it dont rain much in AZ. however a fork brace is a good idea i had one before i removed it. one wouldnt think the fender adds much stability but the fact is it does, will you notice it??? maybe prob more in fast corners but none the less a frok brace is a good idea. other than that it looks BADA$$!!!! ive ran no fender for about 2mo now and of course the first day it rained!!! [:@]but it wasnt too bad i;ve delt with worse

Was thinking about doing the same but have decided against it as I think that the lugs on the lower fork legs will look odd with no fender or bolts attached to them (just my opinion )

I think I will slot the fender mounting holes and move it closer to the tyre as this should improve the looks, just not sure about how much clearance to leave to allow for expansion when the tyre gets hot.

i got my brace from dennis kirk just over a 100 bucks i think by crossroads. laralauk i wouldnt do the notch thing if you take the bolts out and move it down you will notice the curve of the fender is nowhere close to the tire and in fact it looks way worse. i thought of this myself as for the ears with no bolts i plan on makin a 3in wide curve plate of steel to make the arch over the tire and mount to the same hole to clean them up and make them look like they are there for a reason. i also have the 05 39mm so the ears are in front and back not as clean as the newer forks but i think it will look trick with the bracket. you can buy them thats where i got the idea but its cheaper to make one if you got the stuff.

I'm pretty sure if you can unscrew a light bulb you can take your front fender off. Good luck.

I removed mine for a bit and loved the look. I put it back on after the first mud puddle I rode through.
