Damn I love that first CLUNK after I've just started it and I'm leaving the driveway for another morning of riding!

Start it in gear with the clutch in................it wont clunk.
or rev it a little then prod the gear lever as the revs drop...... a little blip works wonders.

If it doesn't "CLUNK" is it really a Harley?

I remember the first time I sat on my cousins new Super Glide in 1974 and stepped into first gear........CLUNK!

...the rest is history.

Howdy, since were on the topic of "clunking", seems like my 05 FXD is clunking thru all the gears....or
I am just noticing it more. Is that normal, or is there a clutch or shifter adjustment necessary for gears 2-5?
.....awesome forum this is!....thanks, Dave

I thought the 'clunk' as you went into first was a Harley Trade Mark. I always figured it was engineered that way...
