Default IDS Kit

Why is there no IDS kit available for the Dyna's,I keep reading on the Touring section how it really quietens down the 5th gear rattle & the primary compensator noise on the Tourers, but my 07,Dyna rattles with the best of 'em.I know 1 forum member has modded an IDS kit to fit a Dyna,so why can't Harley do it,(or aren't the Dynas worth it).Or maybe he can tell us how to do it.
Cheers,Graham.

The touring bikes have a 66 cog sprocket for different gearing. The way the ones for touring bikes are selling, I will bet that one for the dynas will be out shortly.

Hi,i'm not very good at links & stuff,so i've copied & pasted this description from the Harley acc.catalogue, basically it attaches to the belt drive on the rear wheel,& acts like an isolation suspension of the drive train(my description)they have been used on different bikes for years & where commonly known as (Cush Drives). If you look on the touring forum, there is a lot of info fromriders who have fitted them.
Thanks,Graham.

Isolated Drive System Sprocket Kit

Introduced on the '08 Touring models, the Isolated Drive System improves rider comfort and ride quality by dampening the mechanical noise and vibration caused by the engine's torque pulses. The rubber compensation elements in the sprocket act like a cushion, absorbing the power pulses from the engine. With the IDS installed, the motorcycle feels more refined, and is quieter while accelerating, shifting and cruising. Kit includes sprocket, compensator bowl, and installation hardware.

40287-07

IN-STORE PURCHASE ONLY Contact dealer for pricing and availability.

Fits '07 Touring (except Japanese) models equipped with Original Equipment and Harley-Davidson® accessory wheels. Will not fit with 80-Spoke Laced Wheel P/N 42954-04, Polished Spun Aluminum Disc Wheel P/N 43760-03 or Slotted Six Spoke Wheel P/N 43932-02 (chrome) or 43933-02 (black).

Hi,07 Streetbob. If your fifth gear is not noisy or the primary drive isn't making a knocking noise when idling, then obviously you don't need to try & cure it.My 07 rattles like a B"ard,so i'm interested in a cure I'm not slagging off the bike I love it.Do you use a windscreen? because with my screen off I don't hear the fifth gear noise at all.According to the comments of the touring guys this kit makes the whole bike smoother & more enjoyable so it might be worth looking into anyway.[sm=smiley1.gif]
Cheers,Graham.

This is from a Road King owner:

Well, after a couple of 200+ mile rides, I have to say this thing is great!
Those of you with '07 Tourers have probably already read this on other forums, now you've heard it here.
No more transmission chatter in fifth or sixth gear. Whine is still there in fifth, but quieter.
No more perceived primary compensator clank.
I can't make the bike lug in any gear.
Startoffs and slow in town riding seem much smoother.
Cruising at 60 in sixth is a dream.
If you haven't done it, do it. You wont be sorry.
I got mine from Chicago HD, and had the bearing pressed in by my Indy. Zannotti's is cheaper, and they will press the bearing in for you.
The local dealers don't have the proper tooling from HD yet and wont touch an IDS until they get it.
There you have it.
