If you look at the fuel pump in the service manual there is a thing on the bottom called a fuel sock. This is a pick-up that runs the length of the tank bottom. My concern is fuel not getting through the crossover when it's low, due to the elevated position. What we need is someone curious enough to run their bike empty while ending up close to a gas station.

you use every drop of gas in the tank. i ran out of gas one day after work, being lazy, well that wont happen again, trust me. well since i ran out, i decided to check if there was any gas left. so i used my flash light and looked inmy tank, no gas. so my answer is you use every drop of gas with the 2 inch lift, but it does effect your gauage a little. i havnt check the 3 inch with the gas usage, since i dont feel like running out of gas again, it might be awhile before i check that out. jackyl
The farthest that I've gone before refueling was 212 miles, and that was with a 2" tank lift. There was more than a pint of gas left. It onlytook 4.534 gallons to fill it back up.
That wasn't one of my better mpg tanks either. I only got 46.78 mpg & I frequently get over 50 mpg with my best at an unbelievable 58.27 mpg. (this is not BS. I have documented every gallon that has run thru my bike) The best mileages are when riding gently with my wife. (on her own bike)
I have the Cross style LED fuel guage and Jackyls 2" lift. I ran it a few more miles well after the red light came on.
The tank took just 3 gallons to fill it.
I have a 2" lift along with the digital LED skull fuel gauge. When I hit around 120 miles or so (this is city riding I'm talking about) the last light on my gauge turns red. There is one stage left on the gauge where the red light starts flashing but I generally fill up around the 130 - 140 mark.
I fit a little over 3 gallons of gas in the tank so I must have a ton of fuel in there and am filling up prematurely... but it is kind of one of those things that I really don't want to find out by mistake. I wonder if I could make it closer to 200 miles on a tank...
Hey rdondes..did you do anything to the handlebars or anything in order to use the lift kit? I also have an 07 SuperGlide Custom and it doesnt seem like the lift would fit with the stock bars and the signals in the stock location
The 2" lift kit will work fine with the stock handlebars. With the handlebars at full, left lock, there will be about 1/2 inch clearance between left turn signal and the tank. Plenty of room. At full right lock, the cables will barely touch the top of the gas cap. So far no problems with a 2" tank lift on my 2007 Super Glide Custom. My gas gauge seems off though - when the low fuel light comes on, the tank will only take at most 3 gallons, so there's at least 1-2 gallons left. The lift looks good and makes cleaning the top of the cylinder heads a breeze.
My gauge was off too after installing the 2" lift so I adjusted the float inside the fuel tank and now thelow fuel light thingy kicks in at about 1 gallon or little bit less.

How did you adjust the float? Is it hard to get to, can you share some more info?
I Bought an led fule gage from the stealer. What junk, 2 years and all of lights have now stopped working. I ride strictly by the odometer. How are the aftermarket LED fuel gages?
