Check out these prices. They will sell you the extended warranty even if you didn't buy the bike from them. I spoke with them before I bought my bike here in Las Vegas ... I ended up buying the extended warranty from the Vegas dealer because they matched the prices. Needless to say the dealer here was nearly double of the guys in WI until I showed them the Suburban Harley prices. The folks at Suburban Harley were extremely friendly and helpful.
Just bought a 2008 Superglide custom. It comes with a 2 year warranty, but they were really trying to push this "VIP Service", which was an additional $3000. YIKES! I believe it was suppose to add another year to my warranty but in addition it gave me "special attention" when in line getting my bike serviced as well as the first 4 maintenance work free of charge (well, not free of course since I would pay 3k up front).
What's strange is that I also noticed they are suggesting I bring my new bike in for maintenance not at 1k, 5k, etc. but at 1k, 2500, 5k, 7500, etc. ?? The harley manual says 1k, and 5k, which I would think is good enough.
Were they trying to pull something on me?
I didn't get the VIP service. An extra $3k was A LOT to me and doing the quick math, didn't add up for me. I could tell they didn't like the fact that I had them redraw up the contract. They never asked me. They talked about it, but they NEVER said how much it was until I signed the sheet at the end... ("Stealership").
I just wanted a new superglide custom, and they seem to be hard to find in vivid black, brand new!
3k for glorified oil changes jeesh.well least they were gona do em at every 2500 miles to get you to bite.oh they also were gona put you in front of others to lol. I have spent 300 dollors tops for fluids and filters. And roughly 1100 for tires mounted balanced 30k miles 2 yrs old
DougsDyna is right. I bought the extended warranty as well. Trying to get the dealer to make warranty repairs is tough. Can't understand the logic unless it affects the owners end of year bonus.
I got the tire warranty as well. I asked the question when I replaced my first tire if the second tire was covered under the original warranty. They said it was, but I no longer trust the dealer. Too Bad!!
When we purchased the Ole lady's Low Rider in 2003, they offered us an extended warranty. They started at $1400.00 for an additional 4 yrs. After we argued between the two of us, they dropped the price down to $950. for the same coverage. So far we have only used it 1 time, would have cost us $540.00 out of pocket to replace her Stator and Rotor. First thing to go wrong on her scoot in 40K miles. I stil feel it was a good purchase, as we sometimes find ourselves far away from home, and its nice to know you have an insurance policy to handle situations like that.
No problems with working with the dealer, and we didn't use the dealer where we purchased the scoot from. I do have to say, once you strike up a good working relationship with your service manager, its worth its weight in gold.
