The only advice I can offer is I wouldn't trust just one strap on each side of the trees to secure the front end, I would be sure and have a backup strap on each side just in case one would break to prevent the bike from falling over due to a faulty strap. Good luck and have fun!

Tie Down & Trailering
On a wood floor I use 2 short pieces of 2x4 screwed to the floor
1 on each side of the front tire.
Tie downs: 3 sets
1 set of tie downs on lower fork tube just above the fender mount.
1 set on the tubes between the uper & lower triple tree. Do not bottom out the fork tubes.
1 set some where in the rear to keep the rear from waking.
Check tie downs after a few miles and every time you stop.

I like to compress the forks by putting the strap over the lower triple and use a soft cloth under the strap. I then put two straps (one on each side) on the frame and secure it to the rear section of the trailer, preventing it from moving forward during transit. I also use a quality front wheel chock that helps to hold the bike upright and in position.

bought a Kendon trailer second hand, single rail andthe rings arewelded to the frame.put four straps on forks at lower tree with soft ties, tied one strap to forward ring another strap to mid point on trailer ( repeat for other side of bike)and a strap going across the swing arm to either side of the trailer, this keeps the rear wheel planted on the trailer. i compress the forks about an inch or two. also use the ratchet type straps not the friction type that are so common. you will make better time on the highway, less stops and you won't feel beat up at your destination, good luck, have fun and ride safe.

I rode my 02fxd,from s.jersey to daytona bike week in 03,I was freezen the whole way up and back,,and let me tell ya,,,if I could have road in a nice warm cab,,with my bike in a trailer I would have in a hot new jersey second..So I figure all the bad rap on trailer-ing your sled is because there either jul-ish,or still into the "Im a bad ***,and your not",,either way its there bad karma,,,dont let it grind against your grain----enjoy and have fun,,thats what were try'in to do,,,,,ride safe...and if ya see me freez'in out there ,,and ya have some room,,,put my bike on/in your trailer.....someday....

Thanks for the photos Jakeiniraq.LOVE YOUR BIKE!!!I'ts a real beauty. I'm going your tie down configuration to my hubby. We bought a Haulmarktrailer for our 06 Heritage and and my 07 Dyna Low Rider. He bought the same front locking chocks you have pictured. The first time he trailered it.......and before I even put 1 mile on my brand new bike, we opened the side door to see my bikelayingon top of his. My bikeput a nice dent in his tank andscratched it up from my clutch lever rubbing on it, and his brake lever put gouges in my windshield.I'mhappy no damage was done to my tank or paint.Needless to say,we weren't too happy. He hasa custom color ( Dragonfly Green ) ofwhich only 558 were produced out of 19,268 Softtailssoldin 2006. Now he has to spend some money gettingit fixed this winter. I dont think I'll fool with the windshield, since the gouges dont effect my vision. Anyway, he's got to trailer themto dealer for winter storage, and we dont want to repeat what happened this spring. Your photos will be a huge help.

LWOS, thanks for the compliment on my bike. I thought the pictures would be easier to show how I tie her down as opposed to trying to write it. I've never had a problem strapping her down like this. Hope it helps, and I'm sorry to hear about your mishap with trailering. I think I'm going to look into an enclosed trailer as well.

I didnt read all the posts so this may be redundant...I use 8 ties...4 in front and 4 in rear......also,obviously you havnt trailered the bike or you wouldnt be asking how to tie it down....dont just put the bike on the trailer and take off...dont know what trailer you have but some dont like to co-operate with the majority of the weight behind the axle....I trailer mine in a backed on position...more weight on the hitch tows better than having the bulk behind the axle...be safe and have fun...:&gt
