Hi.Thanks to all who have replied to my post.(Dyna Vibration).Especially the link from (Its A Harley).If I had known about this Forum I would still own my T-Sport,that link to V-Twin Forum,looks like a real engineering solution & will probably cure the problem,
it's to late for me to trade back to my T.the dealer has sold it,the Ultra's a great bike anyway,dos'nt handle /stop like the Sport but still really nice. I am new to Harley's,an old fart & not used to Forums.If you guys can take the time I would be very interested in your comments on a few thoughts I have after my experience with this Vibration issue.Let me say once again i'm not so young anymore(60) I have done most of my riding in England owning just about every British & Italain bike you could name + I have to admit a couple of BM's,I now do all my riding in Tn.hence this was my first Harley & apart from the vibration it's the most enjoyable bike I have owned(my wife agrees we always ride two up (hope that's the right phrase)!!!.My thoughts are as follows.
I took the Sport to 3 Harley Dealers in the Nashville area to have it checked for vibration & to be fair they all had a Mechanic/Tech.check the Bike they all stated it was absolutley normal for a Dyna.
I contacted Harley Customer & Technical services,they said there was no Vibration issues with Dyna's.
The independent dealer I traded the bike with said all the Dyna's had this vibration to some extent(he thought my T-Sport was the worst he had experienced)but he was obviously still happy to do the deal,his solution to stop the Vib was ride above 3,000rpm,which is outside thr speed limit on most highways.
My friend in Tn.who owns 2 Harleys couldn't ride the bike for more tan a few miles,without his hands getting numb,(he's obviously a whimp).
Judging by the replies to the Posting highlighted by (Its A Harley)this is a fairly common issue with many Dyna riders.
Question!how many people have had the same sort of problem & sold there bikes maybe changing to a different brand & think for ever more that this was just poor design & not a mechanical adjustment.
Is this one of the reasons why many Harley owners prefer the FXR to FXD because of the qoute(bag of S**T dyna rubber mount system)or is it only the few Harley guy's I know who think this?.
There are other issues I see repeated lots of times in the Forums,like rear frame wobble,poor Brakes,overheating,applied to the Ultra I own,& there are lots of denials about these issues,but there are also always engineering solutions like True-Track etc offered,so these problems must exist.
Sorry to waffle on you're probably yawning or worse still, thinking I'm a closet Harley basher no!!.we think these bikes are great & when we ride we have more genuine pleasure & feel from the bike than anything we have owned .
How much more pleasure could we get from these bikes if some fairly simple mechanical issues where recognised & dealt with by Harley,& how worried would the other manufacturers get.
Thought maybe this is where the VRSC range comes in,don't know I've never rode one.
To any of you that's ploughed thru this thanks.I can't beleive I v'e put all this on a Forum when 6 mth's ago I didn't know they existed.

I just bought a '06 Dyna and had the same question. The vibration is normal but to excess could be because the mounts need to be adjusted. There is also a shock isolated 3rd party top support that will cut down on this vibration. This mount support is for the side to side movement of the engine.

The softtail has a counter balanced engine that totally eliminates this vibration. Lord only knows why they didn't put it in the Dyna.

Of course the old school will tell you if you want smooth buy a Honda.

 

I have a 2001 DWG I bought it a few month's ago with 4,900 miles on it, the guy didn't ride it much. I have since put another 5,000 miles on it and have started to have a vibration I can feel in the peggs, seat and bars. I pulled off the primary to take a look inside because I replaced the starter clutch a few weeks ago so I wanted to make sure that something wasn't comming loose. When inside I noticed that I could move the primary chain tensioner foot, I figured this is normal, I had the back wheel off of the ground and when in gear I could rotate the back wheel back and fourth with about 1/16 of a turn of play, is this normal? I have never tightened the belt and maybe the prior owner never did either, he said he had the dealer do the work. Would a loose belt cause the vibration? I looked through my service manual and saw nothing about adjusting the tracking on the belt and it is tracking to one side. I am sure someone has posted about this can someone set me up with a link please? I bet I have the cleanest primary case oil around after the starter clutch work and this changed the oil four times in a month. Thanx guy's/gal's

I regularly ride 200 to 250 miles at a time at 65mph, with no noticable vibration. I admit my backside is a little sore after 1000 miles. The Harley seats are alot better than they used to be for comfort.

 

Had the same problem, dealer checked it out it was loose engine mounts, have you dealer do a check for you.

Hi,this is a fairly old thread,I sold the T-Sport & bought an Ultra Classic.Don't know if anyone is interested,but I just made another post about a Lowrider because I went to a Harley demo day & rode a 2007 lowrider,it still vibrated at around 2,800revs,but it made the Electra feel slightly clumsier to ride than a Greyhound bus,so I'm thinking about buying a 2007 Dyna,vibes or not.

Hi,A T-Sport or designation FXDXT is a Dyna Sport (FXDX)with a small nose fairing & adjustable windscreen,with removable expandable bags.Not many around I think they where in production from 01 thru 03.

 

Your kidding, right? Man, I feel lost now. T-Sports are the best light weight touring bike HD ever made, (if you call 640lbs light). The only bikes that could/can out ride them are the fat tire bikes, ie, "baggers". Notice I said out ride them, not out handle them. T-Sports have fully adjustable suspension, front and rear, adj windscreen, great bags! decent touring seat and can do just about all that a full-on touring bike can do, plus it handles twisty's like a sport bike. Guess I kinda' like mine.
