Default 5000 mile service question

I have a 2007 superglide with 5000 miles. There is a local mechanic who has American Motorcycle Institute (AMI) certification and specializes in harleys. He rides harleys and many of the local guys give him their business. He advertises doing the scheduled service check ups for less than the dealer charges, plus the dealer is about an hour away from here. Would it invalidate my warranty to have him do the maintenance instead of the dealer?

Your input is appreciated.

Read your manual. The short answer is NO--save your receipts though, anyone even you can do the work and not void warranty

I just got my 5,000 miler check up. And it cost me $240.00 with syn 3 added. Personally I would go with the local guy. Its a quick check over the bike, cables, clutch, etc. And Fluids changed. Thats it, donein less than 3 hours.

That's cheap compared to the dealers around here. They want $345 which is why I will do it myself and know that it's done right. I let them do 1,000 mile but that will be the last one.
