I just bought a 2008 FXD. I love the ride. I just have one complaint about it, as seems to be a common problem I'm hearing, and its just that the thing is too quiet. I know to meet EPA standards, these bikes come out Lean from the factory. Are there any inexpensive ways to change this? I am eventually going to get some slip ons. Anyone have any suggestions? Someone mentioned to me that I could try and drill the baffles but I'm a little wary about doing that.
Check the slip-ons on this site, will also give you the video and sounds on the different baffles. I have the 2.0.Make sure youscroll down. Hope it helps.
I agree on the Rush 2.0 slip ons. As I said in another post the low end rumble and resonance are better than any pipe I have ever heard. Yep, they are loud when you nail it but at cruise they are fine and you can feather it to a degree when big brother is around.
When you hear the bottom end of a Rush pipe nothing else will sound good.

Don't drill the baffles .. it will sound tinny ...Go for aftermarket slip-ons, A/C and download ... She'll scream then ...
Will do. I just wanted a temporary fix while I save up some cash. I'm a brand new owner, making it on my own. Unfortunately my budget is limited. Thanks!
PM a forum member named Trotter. He has several set of slip-ons for sale in the classifieds.
He used to be a Dyna fan and owner before he suffered from a rare andbrain damaging illness, which ultimately led to his purchase of a Softtail.
I don't think his post lists the prices he is asking for the different mufflers, but he usually is extremely reasonable just trying to make room for new inventory in his basement.

I still have a couple Dyna's, and will always be a dyna owner also...
Be sure you use new muffler clamps!Dyna mufflers have no support bracket,so if you do not use new clamps they could fall off. The original clamps are a one time use thing.
