Glad you finally got it. Like they say, "a pictures worth a thousand words" Don't that beat all. The one thing you didn't install was the one giving you the trouble. That's why it's always a good reason to be familiar with you bike.

Motherwell's makes a really nice matte black thumb screw (no tools). You can also get the inset and c-clip from them.

where did you get that fender bib? I am getting a hd sidekick custom seat, and the dealer said they don't carry anything like that?

here is a picture of the nut it is held in place in the fender when you take the bolt out. The bolt can be a thumbscrew or a philipshead, it doesn't mattter.
As you can see in my picture, the nut and the bolt can be left in place when the solo seat is installed. The addition of the fender bib is one more option.
