I'm buying an '06 Dyna soon, so I'm researching on what seems to work best. Learned a lot about heads, compression, cams, bore increase, etc.
But nobody mentions an ignition upgrade. With the increase in static compression and effective cylinder pressures, I would thinkyou would want to to increase the ignition output, and maybe adjust the curves. I've always been a fan of multiple sparks, too.
Is the factory system that good? Or is it too difficult/expensive to upgrade?
If you increase the compression you will need to retard timing. As well as the riders weight is going to play a big part in tuning with timing. SO a nice adjustable ign is best to use and not for perfromance reason, it can be for engine saftey. A stock ign curve is more advanced than a performance curve. So if you use a high advance curve ( like stock) and then you increase comp ratio you may have problems with ping
