I'm going for the flames/maltese cross look on my wide glide. I've gotten some good parts already. But I'm having no luck with the gas caps. Does anyone out there know where to find low profile Maltese Cross caps and Fuel Gage covers? I can get the gas cap, but when it comes to the fuel gauge cover I always draw a blank. I'm guessing I'm going to wind up having to have it custom machined. What do you peeps think?

Thanks Gilly, but I was hoping to get something other than moco. It's not that they're not good, just don't really want the B&S on the top.

 

OK, I see what you mean. How's about this idea: Go with the HD Cross cap and gauge, but have the B&S filled in or ground off and rechromed, or maybe black powder coated? I'm sure all the guts of the cap and gauge could be removed so you wouldn't have to worry about something getting screwed up. Myself I think the LED's are a good idea. Would be better than having a cover, where it would be totally obvious that you just covered the stock cap. With the LEDs it's not really obvious that you even HAVE a gauge. (But I know what you mean about HD over-doing the B&S on absolutely everything). I also think this might end up being cheaper than a custom machined cover.This is assuming you like the HD "Cross" gas cap look. I kinda like the 6 Shooter design, and have been thinking on doing the black anodizing on them. I haven't thought about removing the B&S, but not a bad idea. I'm sure a good chromer could fill the B&S with something appropriate, something they can chrome over.
