I'm trying to find the a post about extending the front forks. There was talk about slugs about an inch or two and that extends the forks, I was wondering if anyone has seen the thread or knows if the slugs are something I should be able to make. I'm having a hard time finding them for 49mm forks. Any help would be great . Thanks
stbobber, I lost the thread again, anyway I was reading that you can supposedly put some kind of larger fork cap on that gives the forks more travel( not sure about this). That is what I got out of it,or put slugs in your forks in between the triple trees. I'm still in the dark on some of this.
Yeah thats what I was lookin for, I'm just trying to figure out the best route to go,the fork tubes or try and figure out if I can make my own slugs. I'm only lookin for about 2 in. up,maybe the 11in. shocks in back. Thanks for the link.
Actually, Ihad a local Indy do it. I took off the forks and gave them to him and he put new tubes on for $160. I don't think that he changed the springs but I don't know for sure. I saved a bunch by just giving him the forks and putting them back on my self.
Super01, I don't know much about slugs but for me I wouldn't go any other way but new tubes. I would think that it would be the safest way. The less parts to fail the better. If you are handy with tools you can save by doing much of the work yourself. If I ever do it again, I will do it all myself.
