Default motorcycle lift?

I'm in the market for a motorcycle lift and want to keep the price down. I don't need any fancy pneumatic lift. A hydraulic one will do just fine. I see that Harbor Freight has one for $69 which looks ok since i'm only using it for the occasional maintenance and cleaning. My issue is that i know the Dyna's usually need a frame adapter on the lifts and this one doesn't explicitly state it on the website.

Does anyone have any experience with Harbor Freight or other "generic" lifts? Or can somone point me in the right direction for a decent (and cheap) lift? There is a Harbor Freight 20 mins from my house so i would save on shipping costs....

I went the cheap route and got the Harbor Freight. Yes there are better quality lifts out there, but I have not had any issues with it.
I do not have any type of frame adapter

A cheap lift is just that. Harbor Freight units may work, OK. Do they have a good return policy? Some folks on the forums have had good luck with Sears, I don't remember the color, red,or yellow (seems like red was the good one). I know someone will chime in with the correct info. For a Dyna you'll need the adapter, only about $20 from the stealer. And hold down straps, to keep it on the stand while working on your scoot. These are only my recomendations. You can do as you wish, but trusting a 15,000+ bike on a really cheap lift is IMHO asking for trouble.

Thanks for the info.. i did find a Craftsman lift that looked a bit nicer and was the same price. Though my guess is that the Craftsman lift is made by the same folks as the Harbor Freight lift and it just has a snazzier paint job.

Is your lift relatively easy to control when lowering and with the tie downs on is it relatively stable? My only fears are that it either slams down upon lowering or tips over.

I have the Yellow Craftsman lift from Sears, cost me $99.00 (last one, floor model) and it works great.

The yellow one from sears is the "better" of the two from what i can gather. It normally retails at $169 vs $89 for the lower cost red one. I've had decent luck with other Harbor Freight tools in the past. Is it the best out there? Definitely not but if you're looking to use something once a month or less and don't need a pro quality tool.. it works. The yellow lift from Sears would be more ideal if i could find it at a similar price to the one that you found for $99.

I use the one from Harbor Freight and I also use the frame adapters. With the frame adapters it takes two people to get the lift under the bike. I haven't had any problems lowering the lift as long as you turn the release slowly.

Got mine at Northern Tool..$69...probably the same thing that Harbor sells...paid $10 extra for a 2 year(3 year total) in store warranty....if anyone ever had to ship this sucker for warranty they would be better off tossing it...:&gt

I am planning on getting the yellow (1,500 pound) lift from Sears but am now confused as to wether I need an adapter from the dealer or not.

Can anyone clarify? 2006 Street Bob...
