I find that hard to believe about the smoke lens.....they're amber when the bike is on right?? What's the problem then? Don't they say "DOT APPROVED" on the package?
Next they'll be barcoding your forehead.
I love florida!
I live in NH too. Find an independent shop and you'll have less trouble. The last time I wasted time and money at an HD dealer for an inspection on an FLHTP they failed me for pipes THEY PUT ON years earlier and then tried to charge me foran "inspection" that never happened. I have plenty of stuff on my Dyna that would never pass the "by the book" inspection method and I doubt most riders in NH would either.
It ain't about safety, it's about money and keepingcops employed doing crap that keeps them from doing useful work.
new england states suck! .....mass, especially!.....rake you over the coals for insurance, and then pop restrictions on your bike just to generate revenue .....not surprising considering the state is so disgustingly socialist, it's mind boggling.... meanwhile, our roads and bridges and tunnels are failing on a regular basis.... but we gotta support those drug addicts and single parents and welfare recipients who claim to be victims, right
if i could save a frickin' dime, i'd move....
...had to vent...sorry....just got my real estate tax in the mail
Sucks to live in that state if it's a as dramatic as you make it out to be.
I have a smoked tailight, smoked signal lenses and side mount plate along with pipes that are "not approved for street legal use". Good thing the other thousand bikes around here are doing the same, if not more.
mmm....I live in MA and it was my local dealer who inspected my bike after THEY installed my aftermarket pipes, and will inspect in next year and they are the ones who installed my side mount plate....should be interesting.
dramatic....that's putting it lightly, trust me.... you risk your life driving through the ted williams tunnel, and more recently, over the tobin bridge!...or any bridge for that matter, as anyone in mass knows what i'm talking about
...don't get me started on the tax issue, either....LOL!
In VA even the indy shops 'know what they're doing' when it comes to inspections. But a regular cage inspector doesn't know his **** from a hole in the ground.A guy I ride with gave me the heads up about this. They won't ride your bike, so they grab you to ride it into the shop, you hit all the lights, horn, they peek at the brakes and give you a new sticker.

I would *NOT* have a sideways mounted license plate in MA. It is flat out illegal. This means any shop that passes you for inspectin can be fined, any cop can pull you over and then check anything else. This is a moving violation so it's points and extra bucks on your insurance etc etc.....
