I have a 2006 Dyna with Samson Big Gun’s 3’s on it for the past 9 month they sounded fine 2 weeks ago I started hearing a tinny rattling sound sounds like it is coming form the front of the bike I have removed the pipes and I see not broken welds on the heat shields. These pipes are all one piece baffles are not removable but when I put pressure on the side of the pipe with my boot it seems to go away. anyone have any ideas The only thing I did around the same time I started hearing the noise was swap out the nuts that hold the pipes to the bracket that is attached to the transmission it came with nylock nuts and I replaced with External Lock Washer K-Lock Nut’s. What is the purpose of the nylock nuts could that be the cause of this noise? I am planning on replacing the lock nuts with nylock nuts this weekend.
Check everything attached to your bike......... I have found that every single thing that is bolted to the bike can sound like a engine noise when loose.
It does sound like your pipes ar the problem, though.
My Python 2-1 just started doing the same thing. I tightened up all the heat sheild clamps, and it went away then came back again. Pain in the a$$.
When funds allow, Im going to a black thunderheader with no heat sheilds, that should fix it.
