I recently installed forward controls and a HD Brawler solo seat on my 2005 Super Glide. I am looking to change the stock bars to something like the Harley Street Slammer bars or Bombay bars; has anyone here done this or installed a similar, non-ape, bar?

I have been researching this my self. Either way it is going to be cheap. I have been looking at wild 1 chubby bars.
I have been told that they all will work, it all depends on how far back and how much rise you are wanting.
I am not mechanicly inclined to do thid. I like the street slammer the best, but pricey. Also ofcourse there is the problem of the gauge mounting or relocation.
Maybe some more individuals will respond to this.

I just got my dyna lowrider back today after having wildone W0560's put on. They are a drag type bar but have quite a bit of pullback and do not rise up very high--very sleek look but not for a tall person, as the bars are about 2 inches closer to me than stock. I don't have pictures yet but will post some soon. I searched a long time before making my move with these bars. My only concern is that the reduced effort clutch I had put on about one month ago that worked great is either not hooked up right or problem is diamondback braided clutch cable, as it is very stiff. Harley personnel told me that the cable come pre-lubricated and that they may need to lubricate it. Not sure I buy it.
Has anyone considered just adding a 3 to 4 inch riser under the bars? A mechanic told me that you might be able to do that by re routing cable and the wires.
The cables and wires are usually long enough to use a 4" pull back riser. It's close, but it works.
But it doesn't work on the Superglide. The gauges are attached to the bar clamp, kind of like a Sportster. Pull back risers change the angle of the clamp, and make the gauge face past vertical, angled downward. It's very difficult to read and looks goofy.
It would work fine on WG and LR, because they have tank mounted gauges. Not sure about the Bobber, but I think that is also bar mounted like the SG.
There are some aftermarket flat gauge panels that attach to the risers. And that might work good, but not look as good because the back of the gauge is exposed. I havn't seen a cover for the stock gauge. You could probably make or adapt a cover from something else, though. Since I don't have one yet, I can't measure anything for fit.
Check out the Wild Ones WO560's. I have them on my '04 Superglide and love the look and the fit. As far as mounting the speedo and tach with the flat gauge mount, no problem there either. I used an Accutronix mount, chrome plated and as far as it goes, I like the look. It can be slid up or down the bar risers to suit your taste. There are a couple of photos there of my bike with this setup. PM or e-mail me if you'd like some more photos or have any specific questions.

Gary, I put a Brawler seat and the Motherwell rack on my bike last week so your picture is a real help. Your ride is gorgeous. I'll check out the Wild Ones.
Thanks for all the kind words, I like the almost finished project on my bike. The gauge mount is made by Accutronix (accutronix.com) and I opted for the chromed aluminum, although the mount is also available in polished aluminum for about $15.00 less.
The gauge mount will take an OEM tach and speedo as well as the light panel that goes underneath. I looked at a lot of other mounts including a real slick one made by Yankee Enginuity in CA, but it only came in pieces and would have run about $500.00 for the entire unit, a little pricy. Installation was very easy, maybe a half hour job, no more. The nice thing is that it will fit either a set of T-bars or stock bars with risers, which for a Dyna are all 3.5" on center. It can be moved up or down the risers to suit your riding style and give you the best view of the gauges.
I didn't want to give up my stock speedo and I found out that Harley changed the way most tachs work on the '04 and up. There use to be a pink wire for the tach signal feed in the wiring harness, but that changed on the 2004 models where the tach feed is through their data bus. Without a lot of extra cutting and wiring, a stock tach was about all that would fit and it suits me just fine. The tach kit comes with directions for cutting and splicing the wiring into the existing wiring harness, but for another $75.00 or so, it was easier to purchase the dual gauge wiring harness and just plug the speedo and tach in, no cutting and if I go back to a single gauge, no spicing to undo.
