I have a potential cheap, quick ($20, 10 minutes) fix for the problem Bobcowan mentioned - i.e. that if you put pullback risers on a Superglide, Custom or Sportster (i.e. anything with bar-clamp-mounted gauges), the gauges are tilted vertically, hard to read and look stupid. I found a little doodad in the J&P Cycles Harley catalog, Item 3100205, which is an angled bracket designed to reorient the headlight on "eyebrow" sportsters and narrow-fork Dynas when you rake the front end. What it basically does is tilt the headlight mount back down on those models so your light isn't pointing at the sky, but it has another unintended use.

On my Sportster I noted that the distance between the headlight eyebrow mounting bolts is the same as the distance between the mounting holes on the speedo or speedo/tach bracket, and the holes/bolts are the same size (5/16"). I found this out because I was thinking about mounting the speedo/tach bracket to the eyebrow holes with long bolts and spacers (forget it, it doesn't work and looks even stupider, because your speedo is on top of your headlight). So this bracket can be used to angle the instruments back down after installing pullback risers, if you mount it to the bar clamp (use longer bolts and maybe spacers beneath it), and then mount the instruments to it. It angles them back much closer to stock, and moves them a little bit further forward, maybe an inch, both of which are Good Things. If it works on a Sportster, it should work the same on a Dyna, right? Will try to post photos soon, it's easier to understand if you see it. The bracket is 2d column, 2d item down at
http://www.jpcycles.com/catalog/2006...alog/0303.html.
...and no biggie that it "only works for narrow glide forks", because you're not going to use it on the forks anyhow. The speedo mount spacing hasn't changed for '06; I think it's been the same for years and years. Now I need to know if anyone has put modest (say 4") pullback risers on an '06 Dyna SuperGlide or Custom and if they had to extend any wires or cables? I like the angle and rise of the stock bars, but they're too far away for my little T-Rex arms.

Before winding up with the WO560's on my FXD, I went through two sets of risers on my 'Glide. 3" and 4", straight or pullback should fit w/o any modifications of the wiring harness. There is a lot of extra wiring tucked inside the frame backbone and all you need to do is lift the front of the tank to access the hole on the left side of the frame to get to the harness. On the '04's, there was a rubber plug on the right side of the backbone, opposite where the wiring harness came out on the left side. This was attached to the harness with a nylon tie, but once cut, the harness can be pulled out as far as you need it, at least on the '04's. There is like another 8" or more of wiring to play with.

I am in the process of putting a new finder on my 05 FXDX after that my next project is the bars. I am planning on going with the wo500. I don't like the look of the gauges on the bar but i don't want to replace my tank. Has anyone tried mounting them downward on the bars. another option i was looking at was the mini gauges. any feed back on this would greatly appreciated.

That is exactly the look I am going for on my 06 Dyna Super when I pick it up in 38 days. May not get as much pullback as you have there but same Chubby 1 brand bars. Love your gauge set up as well. I also like your colr(is that fire pearl red as well?) Nice bike and thanks for the pics.
