Loose wire and loose bulb would be a good start for checking out the problem. Could be a bad connection, ground/short, transient fault. I think I've used up all the things I can think up. You're best bet is to either take a multi-meter and go at it and see if you can isolate the fault. If you can't do that then take it to the dealer. If it's still under warranty then just take it to the dealer and let him fix it.

You don't mention what year your bike is. The earlier 06 Dynas had a Safety Recall on the Nuetral Switch assembly.
Your service manual has a section on troubleshooting the nuetral switch, etc.

Can you tell me more about this recall? My neutral light always comes on in neutral but quite often in 5th and 6th gear too. Had the dealer check it at the 1000 mile service but he found nothing (if he actually checked) and claimed there were no error codes showing.

I recently had a warranty repair of that recall. Dealer replaced that switch again. More bothersome than anything. I don't automatically assume it's in neutral just because the light is on.

I had the same problem with my 06. The light would come on in 5th gear. Dealer said the spring inside the switch was weak and replaced it, problem solved.

Mine was coming on during downshifts. The dealer said to bring it in and they would check. Before I could do that I did my spring service and replaced the tranny fluid with Redline Heavy Shockproof oil. The light has worked prefect ever since.
