Its an 06 streetbob. My dealer is about 60 miles away. Dont really like them workven on it. I wish they would just give me the switch so I could change it myself.
There were approximately 13,400 Dyna (all models) made with a defective neutral switch assembly (not just the switch).
If your Dyna waqs one of these you should have received a recall notice. The kits are available at the dealer. Have the dealer look up your VIN and they can tell if you fall under the recall.
They have to go into the trans to do the repair.
If not, maybe you just have a bad switch, etc.
I don't like taking my bike in for service, because it generally sucks, dealing with Harley service techs.
Better to check on this while the bike is still under warranty.
You need to go to the dealer and get the tranny recall done. They order a kit by your VIN and once they hsve it it takes about a day to put it in. I just had it done on my FXDI35 and neutral is much more pronounced and I can get it from second now here I couldn't do that before the recall fix.
I gotta 06 and about 2500 miles the same was occuring. It turned out that the sensor switch was intermitently failing when the engine temp reach a certain level. It mostly happened after being in traffic for extended periods and when I finally got into a good wind...... It left. The dealer could never make it repeat but he took my word and replaced it. I now have 4800 and no signs of it happening since!! Hope this helps...
