Default Neutral Light

Another of those infamous '06 Dyna issues. Have had the nuetral light come on intermittently (when its not supposed to) ever since my scoot was new. 7600 miles. However, today it stayed on and would not go off. Any ideas o how to troubleshoot/fix this annoyance? Thanks.

Not that familar with the 06's but on the earlier Dynas the neutral light switch is on top of the transmission cover. It will have two push on wires, check those wires for corrosion and security . You want to also pull the switch and clean the little ball with a degreaser then reinstall the switch.

Thank you both. Will pull the switch and clean the contacts and the ball on the bottom.

Had the same problem with my 06. The switch was bad and had to be replaced.

I'm not sure if its a similar issue or not but sometimes when I shift gears on my 2010 fatbob the 6th gear light will come on briefly when letting the clutch in or out. I've gotten all required maintenance done at harley during the 15,000 miles i've put on it and no mechanic has said anything but I'm curious.

Was just checking access to that nuetral switch. I wonder how you get a wrench on it without wiping out the finish on your tranny cover? It looks like I might be able to get a breaker bar/ratchet on it if I remove the battery tray. Anyone try that? Gracias.
