Default Neutral Light not working

My 2002 Fatboy just got here a week ago and I love it. The only thing I noticed was that the neutral light doesn't work. Anybody have any idea how to fix it or what to check? Thanks!

I'd start with the neutral switch on top of the tranny...it could be unhooked or a broken wire...

On the tranny cover is the Neutral Gear Switch, looks like a hex nut with two terminals.
-Remove the terminals from the switch (just pull them up)
- Turn Ign ON
- with paper clip short both terminals of the switch - if the green "N" comes up, then the problem is in the switch.

a.) Switch problem:
- Make sure the tranny is in Neutral (rock the bike to verify)
- Connect back the terminals, turn Ignition ON
- try to tighten up the switch with an open wrentch (within 1/4 of a turn the "N" should light up if the switch is lose)
- If the "N" doesnt light up- you'll need to replace the switch.

b) Wiring problem ("N" Doesn't light up when the terminals are shorted)
- could be a broken wire at the Indicator Bar (at the connectors), inspect wiring at the Indicator bar
- could be a burnt "N" light.

In any case the most probable causes are:
- unhooked switch terminal (inspect and reconnect)
- unseated switch ( need to be tighten up no more than 1/4 of a turn)

Good luck!

Just fixed the problem. Was at the Harley dealer today and a mechanic was in the parts area. I asked him and he said to buy a new Neutral Switch for $14. Well, the mechanic was right. It was a little tough swapping out the switch, but I finally got it done and now green light works. YAY!
