Default Neutral light

Hi I have an 06 streetbob, with kury. forwards, went for a ride the other day Amd was sitting traffic when I noticed my neutral light won't go off, when I push the shifter down or up it will go off but as soon as I release it comes back on, haven't had a chance to look at it, any ideas before I start looking
Thanks

I had a similar problem with mine. I replaced the neutral switch, witch is like 15$ part and a 5 min job. But that wasn't the problem. Mine ended up be a rubbed wire that the previous owner had moved to install some lights.

My 06 has the same problem. Took the switch out and cleaned it and it worked properly. However, every once in a while, the light comes on and won't go out (or flickers). Then it works fine. I think H-D acknowledged this problem back in 05 but I don't remember what the "cure" was.

Here is a photo of the transmission cover. The neutral switch goes in the hole that is visible on the far right of the cover.
