I need to share my experience from my sunday ride yesterday. I'm a new rider, I still have my learner's permit. I went for a short trip with some of my friends who are very experienced riders. On our way home we were coming up a small hill (it was on a highway) doing around 60 mph and there it was, an idiot changing a tire in the left lane! My friend in front of me avoided the car at the last second but I had locked up the rear tire and skid for what seemed like a mile but was probably about 20 or 30 ft. I don't know how I did it but I kept the bike straight and missed the moron in the left lane and accelerated past him. There was smoke and rubber in my rear view and my friend behind me, who saw the whole thing said it was so scary he had to change his shorts. Needless to say, it's a story we'll tell for a long time to come.

I'm taking the MSF course on this week and will be licensed this weekend. What timing.

Congrats on succesfully negotiating your first idiot encounter! The MSF course is pretty enlightening. Save the underwear from yesterday's ride and a few years from now when you think you know everything, look at the brown racing stripe and remember![8D]

Glad to hear it turned outOK for you. It could of been a LOT worse. Stay Alert is my best advice for you. And continue with the training. It's all good lessons to learn.
