Idiot Lights
I noticed that my 2008 Dyna Lowrider does not have a battery/charging system Idiot Light. I only see an oil light and the check engine light. Is this correct? Can someone that has a 2007/2008 Dyna turn on the ignition, but not start the engine and validate this?
Thanks!
not sure about the 06 and highers cuz i got an 05 but theres a few in the speedo gauge back round itsself. look there maybe but i do know that they use the engine light for alot of things so its really usless
actually i dont think many of the hd's have the battery light??? maybe only the e-glides and roadkings do. not sure but i think this is more whats going on, kuryakin makes a nice lil gauge with leds for the batt thats not too spendy.
Yep, HD did away with a low voltage idiot light with the Shovelheads. You really need someway to monitor your charging system, considering they arequite prone to failure. With an idiot light, you can at least head for home or a shop when you system goes out instead of riding till she dies because you didn't know you had a problem.
I use a Kuryakyn gauge on my Road King.

The check engine light will come on, if there is a problem. No battery warning light.
The codes will tell you what problem was detected.
Not saying it is a better way of doing or not. Just sayin.
