Default making a noise-HELP!!!

i have a 07 street bob with 2,000 miles on it. about 3 weeks ago i noticed a noise that wasnt there before. its gonna be hard to explain, so here it goes.

while im cruisingin any gear and any speed, and i give it some gas i hear a noise. im not just talking about slowly gaining speed, i get on it! the noise kinda sounds like a high pitch squeal/squeak-finger nails on a chalk board type of noise. it isnt a constant noise, just when i give it gas the noise goes along with the engine rumbling.

i know this prob doesnt make any sense, but ive been to the hd shop and they couldnt help.

thanks in advance

Interesting, where does the noise seem to be coming from? Is your air filter assembly tight, etc.?

it seems to be coming from the right side, more towards the front than the rear.

i didnt check the air filter and all that jazz. ill check it tom. but i think its more serious than that. i just have a bad feeling something is screwed up.

Did you replace your exhaust seals when you installed your pipes. Check for an exhaust trail where your pipes attach to the heads. Good Luck!

I was going to make a post on this as I just got the same sound. It started when I put on slip on SE IIs. The sound is from the left on my bike and it is generally below 2200 RPM. It is a difficult sound to explain but it is real. I have check my exhaust and can't see any leaks. A very strange sound that is hard to ignor. I would be interested in everyone providing ideas and suggestions.

Might I suggest that it is a 07 and it should still be under warrenty, take it to the dealer..why is it everybody wants to me their own mech. when the bike is still under warrenty?? back in the old days a warrenty was 30 days or 30 miles, whichever came first, now days a 2 year warrenty and nobody wants to use it?? I sure as heck use mine, and I used to be a wrench at at a couple of local shops..you pay for it, use it..

by intake you did check more than just the filter right... if there is any play in the assembly (your air cleaner you can move it by hand) that is your problem... had the same thing on my bob!

I dont think anyone trusts the dealer shops anymore. I know my bike is under warranty but for a small issue I would rather fix it myself as I dont trust my local dealer either. Now, if I had a MAJOR problem. It's going straight to the dealer to be fixed.

I agree, and who wants to spend a day at the dealership only to be told the problem is imaginary, or worse to have a dealer keep your bike for days or weeks at a time, and still not fix the problem?

I am glad my warranty has expired.
