Been watching the local indy mech work on a kick start Harley, he's about 130lbs, ALMOST went over the bars once or twice. Then, a real Harley owner stepped up and put his foot on the pedal, pushed it through once, raised it again, and kicked it though, away she went. Me, no thanks, was kicked by a Triumph 650 once, tore the instep on my boot, and about crippled me. [:@]

Can't start the 07-08s with a kicker. ECM requires two rapidrevolutions before spark is induced, or something to that effect. This eliminates kickback which saves the starters and a few other things from destruction.

I talked with the guys from Baker transmissions at Daytona during biketoberfest. He told me that they are working on something, but the problem has been that attempt at a "bolt-on" kicker have been breaking the transmission shafts at the end where the kicker slides on. He said they're working on a replacement shaft/kicker setup, but who knows.
