I did a demo ride on a Wide Glide over the weekend, and coming to a stop I hit a small bump and experienced the 'clunk' as well. I agree with the steering head bearing adjustment, that's what it felt like to me. (have had similar problem on previous non-HD bike).

on the wide glide, the steering head adjustment is seperate from the fork stem nut. it is the fork stem nut that needs to be torqed down. you loosen steering head adjustment , never-sieze the fork stem threads and washer, torque to 90lbs. then go back and adjust steering head adjustment [in manual] to set the fall-away.

Interesting, thanks! 'scuse me for not reading your previous post more carefully. When you said that's specifically a Wide Glide thing, did you mean the other Dynas only have the head bearing adjustment and that their triple clamps are different from the WG's? (just looking to learn something about my future bike).

i believe on the other dynas the stem nut also tightens the head bearings. the wide glide has a gear shaped adjuster that is turned with a hammer and a small punch or drift pin. this is located below the stem nut.
FIXED!!!! The dealer tried to tell me it was normal and the only thing he could think of was to use a heavier weight oil. One of his service techs told the service manager that just adding a few more ounces of regular weight oil would do the trick. He did and it did. Not only is the clunk gone but the ride over all feels much better.
In answer to the question about topping or bottoming: it was topping out and cold weather made it worse.
I have an 02 wide glide and was getting a little clunky- dunk when i would hit bumps just right, had the harley dealer re-set the preload on the fork pivot bearings (under warranty) and now have 44k on it and still no more clunks. it is the same as preloading the tapered wheel bearings on the older cars when packing the bearings---jack
l think the first thing you should do is put some screaming eagle or any other performance fork oil in that baby, in case you haven't already done that, the stock fork oil just plain sucks
