That's a pretty big strap on you're wielding.... Honestly f*cking ugly. May as well buy a goldwing

Futt Bugly no doubt, you guys are way too polite. I've been toying with the idea of a late-Sixties style tall sissy bar to drape a backpack over. That way I could go to the gym and leave my sweaty gear flying in the wind rather than funking up saddle bags or carrying a smelly backpack into the office with me. Haven't seen a lot of aftermarket tall sissy bars though, everyone seems to like the shorties these days.

Just strap your backpack to your rack ... if you fill the bottom of the pack with clothes it gives good back support too ... 'cause that setup is way way too ugly. I've done 2000miles like this in a week, complete with laptop inside ... it works just fine and looks ok ... you are overcomplicating what's required ... JMHO

pic is mine halfway through the channel to France ...

Yuck.
Why not get a solo luggage rack like the ones from Motherwell and put a good sized bag on back? I've got that setup and have a bag just like this one on back

there is still room on the luggage rack to strap on a smaller one and thenalso if you need more storage the bag has D hooks to strap another bag just like this one or anotheron top of it.

Here's a recent pic with my grand daughter on the bike but you can see the bag on back. Yea it looks kinda raggedy as it faded in the sun after a few years but it kinda fits the bikein a way I think.

There is a little pocket on the front that is supposed to slip over a sissy bar pad to help secure it, Since I don't have a sissy bar it serves no purpose. I happened to have an old sissy bar pad off the Sporty I had so I stuck the pad in the pocket and it works great as a backrest for me so that was a nice bonus.

The post above is what I was thinking, too. If you want a smaller bag, there are plenty out there. I have a T-Bag that's about half the size of that one in the post above. I put mine over my sissy bar, but you could just as easily strap it to a detachable solo rack. Seems a lot cheaper and less detrimental to the style of the bike. OTOH, the big 'ol tourpak on there would certainly be functional.

I can't believe it took 11 posts for somebody to state the obvious, that's hideos, yuck. What are you thinking? Look if want to haul stuff but don't want to wear a back pack there are much better alternatives. Motherwell luggage rack comes to mind, put one of those on and you could carry all kinds of crap, gym bag, back pack, bikers friend roll bag, which you could also carry on your bars. You see my point there are allot better ways to carry stuff on a bob than a huge fugly fiberglass box.You might as well bolt a milk crate to the back fender it'll look just as good and cost allot less.

Whats wrong with somebody doing somethingHE likes to HIS bike, nothing says we need to like it, its his, let him do as he wants. maybe it isn't for me, but then maybe it is, not everybody likes black bikes, but we all know real bikers ride nothing but black bikes.

I posted this to get opinions, both good and bad. I love the looks of the Street Bob "Solo", the tour pak I agree fully that it takes away from the looks of the bike but the reason that I am having trouble steering away from it is that it would be so functional. And with the rack it would be removable in seconds when not being used.

I am so stuck! I can't decide which way to go, looks or functionality.
Thanks

He asked what we thought ... that's what he got ... I think most of it was constructive offering alternatives ... and some straight talk to save him from embarrassing himself !
