I posted this to get opinions, both good and bad. I love the looks of the Street Bob "Solo", the tour pak I agree fully that it takes away from the looks of the bike but the reason that I am having trouble steering away from it is that it would be so functional. And with the rack it would be removable in seconds when not being used.

I am so stuck! I can't decide which way to go, looks or functionality.
Thanks
If you want function just take the family minivan. I'm sure there is enough space in it to haul what ever you could have fit in that fiberglass box you are thinking about making. Plus, if you do decide to bolt Paris Hilton's personal luggage to your fender, you're going to be too preoccupied by how much of a retard you are for bolting anything to a bob and not just removing sh*t. Even further, who knows if it wouldn't act like a sail on the back of your bike?!!

Hey grumpy my black bike is pretty fast

Let us know ... I have a SG and I like the solo look too. I need some storage butI'm staying away from saddlebags for now. I would vote fora soft bag on a rack over something fiberglass.

Oh, and you really want to stay away from riding while wearinga backpack. Can cause all kinds of back and neck injuries if you go down with one strapped to your back.

I am itching to get a back pack off of my back while riding back and forth to work. This set up would be quick detatchable and used only for commuting and traveling once in a while.

I scetched a tour pak on a copy of a Street Bob, what do think.

What are you carrying in your backpack? Why not just install a stock QD sissy bar with luggage rack and get a roll bag or something to put on it. A buddy of mine has a backpack that is made for strapping onto the sissy bar front or back. Seems that would look a lot better on a bob than a e-Glide pack thing and should be just as functional.

Kuryakyn makes a beautiful semi rigid bag with a built in lumbar support for about $180. I've been keeping it on my list simply because it will not destroy the lines of the bike.

I have the HD pelion and unless my GF's azz in planted in it that thing is in the garage because it is so buttfugly.
That tourpac you are thinking of makes the pelion look like godiva chocolate melted on the GF's belly

I have seen a similar set up to yoursketch.

It wasfitted to a Dyna using rigidbackrest (sissy bar)sideplates without the upright and aspecially made box support bolted into the sideplates,a bit like a sissy bar rack turned the other way and the box bolted to it,looked as if it could be removed easily by unbolting from the sideplates.

It looked ok in a functional sort of way !

Corbin likes your idea, although I think it's a little pricey.
They used to have a storage box that mounted to the back of the Oval Back backrest, but I didn't see it here.

I remember when Jackyl announced his TourBob a few years ago [sm=badbadbad.gif][sm=chairshot.gif][sm=pcwhack.gif][sm=shootshoot.gif][sm=wtf.gif][sm=type.gif][sm=smarty.gif][sm=laughat.gif]

It got noticed, and apparently enough folks liked the idea https://www.hdforums.com/archive/thr...-738130-1.html

Good luck with your idea.

I'll bet dollars to donuts that it will affect your handling above 70--as in making the bike sway during long sweeping curves.
