Default I am wondering, Why? Hmmmmm...

I love the looks of my new Wide Glide. Sure there will be things I want to change to make the bike more my own. But for a stock bike, it looks great! However, there is one little piece on the bike that I am not sure why HD choose to use. On the rear fender, why is there a big black plastic piece used? Why not a matching Deep Cobalt Blue metal piece? Is there a good reason for this?

You nailed it. I have a Black WG, so it is not quite so noticable, but nevertheless. Ihave lookedthe bike over many times. Everything I seeis an improvment. Frame, Downtubes, Tranny, I mean the list goes on. There is a post in the tech section that lists all the improvments for 06. And yet, The plastic piece on the bottom of the fender, and they dont have the sissy bar as stock. I already bought a sissy bar so thats fixed.......not sure sure about a cure for the plastic fender though.

It is there to frustrate you.

Otherwise, you would not want to replace it, thus, you would not be spending more $$$$ with the MoCo.

HD should make a chrome or factory paint replacement......if not check JP Cycles or some of the other bike parts sites.

Nice WideGlide BTW.......

I know if there had been a piece like that on my LowRider it would have been long gone as HD would have successfully snookered me into opening up my wallet even more.

Is there a good reason for this?
The reason is the same reason all of the bikes come with those ugly black grips and black switch housings...so you'll $pend more money with the MoCo to replace them!!!

I can't answer your question but I'm wondering if HD is using the same rear fender as the one they use on a Softail, Standard or Night Train and it is more exposed on the Wideglide. My Standard has the same piece but it's not noticeable. Your bike looks great!

I have looked, but can't find anything in the HD catologue, did I miss it? Has anyone found something somewhere else? I guess it kinda bugs me because one of the things I don't like about Hondas, Yamahas and... is the plastic they use.

you got to remember one thing if all the bikes came the same differnt grips no plastic nothing to change for one nobody could afford it and to you would'nt make it your way its no differnt the rice bikes are the same way it doesn't matter if you buy your extra's at the dealer or where you got to make the bike your way it can be cheap or what ever you want to spend and if there is something you want to change and cant find it anywhere that means go to a sheet metal place buy some and make your own.that is the beauty of a motorcycle there is nothing you cant do to them.[sm=biker.gif]

No clue! MOCO like getting paid... I see what you mean it would look better if it was also cobalt blue. That cobalt blue rocks. My Low Rider is going to be cobalt blue. 56 DAYS!
