Default forward controls

been reading this post daily for months now and have learned alot, for this thanks to all.I have a 2007 street bob that I am thinking about forward controls. Any trip over 200 miles with the mids bother the knees. have highway pegs now but am thinking forwards are the way to go. I am 5'7" and always ride with boots. Has anyone here put forwards on and then decided the reach was to much? just trying to answer al my questions before i go to the dealer. Thanks

YES. I be needing to achieve this accomplishment as well, down with the mid controls and their joint assaulting ways. Rise to power shall the forward controlls.

I'm 5'9" and have the forward controls. They were too far away to be comfortable but with the Kuryakyn Iso-pegs and sturrips they are very comfortable now.... until you get over 100mph, then your feet tend to be blown back off the pegs quite a bit.[8D]

I have a 32" inseam, commute130 miles round trip. I would recommend sticking with the mids and highway pegs. You say you have them, but the mids cramp your knees... Why aren't you up in the pegs for a 200 mile trip?

It's a Dyna, not a softy, keep the mids so you can flip it around.

I put fowards on my low rider and I love them. I myself am 5'11' and they are comfortable.I did have to modify the brake pedal a little, but as far as the pegs are concerned, they are great.

There goes Herr again trying to talk everyone out of forwards.

There is nothing wrong with forwards on a dyna. Trust me, you can still "throw it around" all you want once you get used to it. If you are having problems getting the right fit, check out Kuryakyn - they have all kinds of foot peg/position related parts to move footpegs all over the place - more forward, more back, more out, etc.

Are your legs comfortable on your highway pegs? Can you imagine your controls being up there? If so, forward controls will be fine. I don't even think they are as far forward with forward controls as highway pegs are but they are definitely not any further out - unless you want them to be. If you are 5'7", you won't want extended forwards - unless you have freakishly long legs.

I put standard forwards on my 07 Bob. HD version. They are not too far forward, 31" inseam. I also use the Kuryakyn ISO stirrups for support. Best money I have spent getting my feet from underneath to forward. I used hiway pegs for a while as you have been doing, but got tired of my knees cracking when I moved to shift or break after having them on the pegs up front after a few miles. Just a sign of getting a lil' older I guess. Move legs, crack . . . pop. That's better.

And I'll keep doing to.

When I get a second Harley, it'll be a softie for looking cool, bar-hoping, and hitting the rallies. That bike'll have forwards. If I wanted a moving recliner I woulda bought the softy or a geezer glide first. Got the Dyna to ride.

Exactly, forwards are an "acquired taste" but with some practice, maneuvering is no more difficult than with mids.
