It's not about gettng a return on the money, it's not an investment. A bike without a motor is worthless. On the otherhand you could have a badass Evo that could take any 08 (maybe not the V-Rod) sitting on the showroom floor, even those SE editions.
That's probably what I'll do for my next bike, get an old Springer and change out the engine for something big and new.
I hear you. I have a Shovel that is really tricked out. I love it and ride it a ton, however the last owner got WAY upside down on it because he put a ton of money into it and then had to sell it way under book value because he lost his job. As long as the orginal poster will not be selling it anytime soon, I say go for it!
Your Superglide looks so nice, it makes me wish I had bought an 81 in 05 instead of an 06.......... Very nice
That's what I'd do...
Don't get me wronge, I don't have money weighing down my pants... but I'd save for this. In the long run I think I'd be happier, and I'm 99% you'd be too.
do like anybody else would . look in your pocket then go with that. cheap as you can and the best you can. no such thing as a old harley.that is why you see some that has years on them but inside they are as new than the show room bikes.
That's what I'd do...

I agree with you. Those S&S 124s are SOOOO sweet.However...$9,000...ouch.
thanks for tht info. that looks like a sweeet motor, but I'm going to stick with the HD motor because of a couple of things. First I don't think I need all that power, the 1340 is about all I can handle right now. I'm a new rider and I've got a ways to go before I go to something bigger. Second, I like to have the dealer do all my work. My dealer in PA has a really good service dept. I can depend on them to always give the right advice and they have a quick turnaround. Thanks to everyone for their input. I appreciate it. Ride safe.
