Here's a photo I took last summer of my Street Bob with the Fehling combo backrest / rack and 2 bags:

Lot's of room to carry stuff and the backrest feels great! I'm planning to switch to a larger single bag next year instead of the duals.

Those belts are very popular for riders in Europe. They use them for back and kidney support.

That's why I chimed in about the belts...a lot cheaper than replacing the seat too...

ProTac is a good option, I really like mine.

http://www.protac.net/index.htm
Mine isreally for a FX Softail Custom.
I had to put the brackets on upside down, then drill the bottom open so I could
put the rest in it, its also modified slightly (Bent to a little different
angle).
I also drilled and tapped the back side of the mounts so I could put in set
screws so it would not slide up or down and cannot be easily stolen.
Protac makes one for our specific bike, but as I said I originally ordered mine
for my FXSTC, but I went a different route on it.
It just took a little imagination to make it work on my FXD.
Igo for comfort.
I would really like to have RudeDog fabricate me one that matches my RudeDog sissy bar.

I have exactly the same problem - I fitted a Corbin Classic Solo with a standard Ovalback backrest (see below) and its transformed my riding. Both the seat and backrest (which is adjustable) are really comfortable. I did a round trip last Sunday of around 200 miles which would have crippled me before and when I got back I washed and cleaned my bike.
