When I got my bike the Harley salesman suggested that I get the
Harley 3/4 helmet with face shield. After wearing it for a while now, I like it. It's light, keeps the wind out of your eyes and face.
And comfortable. Cost me about $150.00 at the dealership.
I'm thinking of the same - tried on a Bell with the built in visor and retracting shield. Anyone have any experience with this one? Don't have the model #...
I like the Fulmer, Bell and Shoei helmets myself. I have a Fulmer half lid right now and its great. With it getting colder a full face with the facelift ability would be a nice addition. I agree with Tripper in that Snell standards are a little more rigid.
However back "in the day" I had a Nolan that had a big seam down the middle, where both sides of the helmet had been joined together in the molding process. This I found out later while being lucky enough not to test this obvious flaw, was a perfect "crack point" if one were to have an untimely meeting with a hard surface. I dont know whether Nolan has improved their line up but this was and always will be something I look for in the future if I decide to buy a Helmet.
Also Helmets are only "good" for 5 or so years barring any major dropping mishaps. I suppose in the end it depends on what yer melon is worth.

I use the HJC 3/4 when it gets a little cold. The main thing is get a Snell rated helmet. The Snell testing standards are a hell of a lot better than DOT standards.
Shoei RJ Air Platinum. Tried out several Helmets at several motorcycle dealers and accessory shops. This one fit well and had vents front and back. Price was not a killer, around $200 delivered. The most important thing is to try it on.
