I was waiting for a Fat Bob to arrive at my dealer, I called them last month and they said they would get one in Jan 08. So being alttle fed up I went to get my deposit back and look else where.
Well when I went in there sat a 08 V Rod Night Rod Special.
I just had to have it, so I bought it. Now I have been seeing some Fat Bobs running around and I realize I made a mistake. Other than the looks, I just dont really like the V Rod.
I guess I have a decision to make now.
The rod is a great looking bike with incredible performance - brembo brakes, 125 hp, 240 tire-what's not to like. Spend some time with her and you might change your mind and save some $$$. My .02
Give the rod a chance but they are 2 totally different bikes. Something must have attracted you to the VROD If you make a switch now gonna cost you some jack!

That's gotta suck.I know how you feel, I felt the same way after buying my Bob.Faced with the prospect of loosing thousands on a sale or trade in I eventually decided to keep it and turn into something I do like.I'd like to know what you don't like about the Vrod, I can't get past the looks but I can appreciate the performance.
Hell every rider has at one time or another thought he may have made a bad choice.I almost bought a Softtail nighttrain but decided on the Wide Glide instead. The Train was just a bit too small. There are a million things you can do with a V-Rod to make it your own.Thats why we are all here.
If (read when) I go to two bikes it will likely be a V-Rod and a Road King. Keep the V-Rod, these are hot bikes, then start saving pennies and get a Road King. Until then, I'm sticking with my Dyna.
Fat Bob= UGLY!!! Half Fat Boy and half who knows what??
VROD Night Rod Special= Nasty Bike w/ good sleek lines
You made the right choice. Everybody gets hyped up about new models and rushes out to buy one. This bike doesn't have much of a clear direction in my humble opinion.
The V Rod has come a long way. It's the Harley to get if you want to go fast without dumping money into a Fat Bob to get the same results. I used to be mixed about them, but nowI find myself gravitating towards them when I visit the dealership.I can't say I would purchase one, since I'm not a "Go fast" guy anymore. However, ifI was, and wanteda fast Harley, then I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.
I got to agree, thats a real sharp looking bike with great performance. I would never get a FatBob over the Night rod even if faced with buying either and both were right in front of me. I love my Street Bob (but dumped some real coin on her)but a Night Rod would be nice......my favorite of the v-rods.

Yeah, my regret is going the otherway.
The looks of the V-Rods are all that stopped me. But the more I see them, the more I like them. Now I'm dumping money into my Dyna to try and get in that peformance range.
If I had to do over again, I woulda probably just gotten an '08 Nightrod, with the 1250cc, just switch out the pipes and I woulda been one happy camper. Now all I think about is the next little tweak I can make to get my FXD going a little faster.
