For anyone that would want to ride, but is put off by salt, theres a great product by Scottoiler called FS365, I rode all year last year and the salt never hurt the bikes as I sprayed this stuff all over it come the end of October and dont wash it again till April/May, i keep spraying it on every few weeks and it builds up a barrier and neutralises salt. Admittedley the bike looks ghoulish till I wash it off come spring, but the thing looked like new so who cares about it looking like **** for 4 months when you get to ride it on the days that aint so bad? i wont ride is in severe frost, ice and snow as im just too chicken about falling off, but the rain or salt holds no peril!
The bikes oil is changed and the fuel is top off, and all tucked away in the heated portion of the garage. To damn cold to ride. No snow in Rochester yet, but winter has just getting started, we arealways good for at least 100 + inchs. The snow blower is also all gased up and ready to go.
It hasn't gotten to bad around Philly the last few winters ( yea global warming), but this year it seems the weather is acting all kinds of crazy. Went from 70 something and sunny to 40 something and rainy over nite. Been keeping the battery charged but have not even ridden my scoot in a few weeks now, always seems like if the good weather does make an appearance I'm working. Didn't help the oldest was playing flag football every Sunday for the last two months. I guess my riding season more or less ended back around Oct. 1st.
Been keeping her ready to go the last few weeks in case I catch a break. It's not looking good so far. [:@]
The way things are going, I'm just gonna shelve her for the winter and start on some of the mods I have planned. Been putting them off to the last second but it's not looking like any miraculous sunshine is gonna hit us anytime soon.
Record high temps in Lincoln, NE today. Enjoyed a great ride in 78* weather and then washed up the bike in preparation for the mid 30's weather they are now predicting with possible snow/rain combo. Has to end sometime but I'll still ride if the roads aren't snow/ice covered.
We are expecting snow here in Denver this week starting late tomorrow night. It was 70* here today, beautiful day to sit in my office instead of riding...NOT. The high for Wednesday is supposed to be like 30 something...BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
I am bummed about winter, but I did get in plenty of riding this year. Bought the bike new in March with 4 miles on the clock, and she has about 12800 on it now. I think the timing was good fo rme, need to replace the rear rubber, do some fluid changes again, and start tearing into the motor and a few other cosmetic things.
