PS: And the dealers in the South East can not keep them in stock, most never hit the floor.
I'm in the SE - same state as you. My dealer in Rocky Mount has had the same one for several weeks now. Of course, they said it has been sold several times and fell through each time due to financing... I've yet to see one around here on the road I must admit.
" Harley's sales are slowing in the US, with some dealers even offering discounts on the quiet for the first time in years, so the company's new concentration on European expansion has come at an opportune moment. The Fat Bob look reflects European custom trends, which means a double headlamp and fat front tyre with big twin discs."
I don't know if this is correct. I do know however, that the new XR 1200 is on show at the NEC bike show in England next week and this will be the first bike in the company's 104 year history to be released exclusively outside of the United States. I believe it goes on sale in Europe in April 2008. I think it's a great looking bike and if I hadn't ordered a new Fat Bob I might have been very tempted.

btkicker:
The dealer I orderedfrom has (or had, a few weeks ago)a dk blue pearl with forwards they were trying to get me to swap to, if that combo does anything for ya. It's in southern Wisconsin, closer than the east coast. VERY reputable dealer. I'm getting msrp out the door, no setup or prep fees, saved about a grand.
Gilly
Oh but just remembered you're in Cali, may need one with Cali emissions, but maybe a fellow Cali rider can loan you his emission crap, I think most rip that puke tank off the bike. Unless there is some special Cali/CARB label on the Cali version, then it might be a struggle to buy out of state.
I have called 4 different dealers and they are saying March for a flat black, or flat crimson. wtf? HD stopped making them for awhile?
Thunder Creek Harley Davidson in Chattanooga has at least one on the floor, thinking maybe two? They were trying to sell me one sunday. Maybe give them a call if you're within a thousand miles or so. Also, they are an MSRP dealer, never more. Sold me the wide glide for a thousand under, no setup or freight. Might be worth your time to check with them on it.
